PROFILE
Jerome Allan Landau is admitted to practice in
Arizona, New York and Colorado, and the U.S. District Courts for Arizona,
and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He graduated from
Brooklyn Law School with a Juris Doctor degree (1967) earned a Bachelor
of Business Administration degree from the Baruch School of Business and
Public Administration, City University of New York, (1964) and is a Graduate
of the Realtor Institute (G.R.I.). Jerome is an Ordained Interfaith Contemplative
Minister.
ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION SPECIALIST
Since the 1970s Mr. Landau has been a professional Alternative Dispute
Resolution (ADR) specialist, particularly in the fields of arbitration,
mediation and group facilitations. He is also an author on these subjects
and presents interactive educational workshops trainings for other ADR
specialists as well as other professionals. His expertise as an ADR professional
has been regularly recognized through his professional certifications
from various organizations and prestigious panels such as the American
Arbitration Association, the U.S. District Court, the international Association
for Conflict Resolution ("ACR"), U.S. Arbitration & Mediation
panel and service on the American Arbitration Association's Commercial
Advisory Panel.
Jerome has twice been invited to
present workshops at the United Nations; where he was described as "bringing
techniques for conflict resolution to those endeavoring to bring peace
to the world." He is also a contributor of articles to "ACResolutions",
an international magazine serving dispute resolution professionals, and
formerly served on its editorial board.
BUSINESS ATTORNEY AND ADVISER
For over 35 years Mr. Landau has served as personal legal counsel and
business adviser to a wide diversity of individuals, businesses and non-profit
associations in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Middle and Far East. His
extensive experience litigating and arbitrating business matters in state
and federal courts well serve his business clients by enhancing his abilities
to craft and negotiate contracts.
Among the more unusual clients he
has served have been Members of Bhutanese Royal Family; the Country of
Bhutan, its United Nations Mission and two of its Ambassadors; the 1,500
year old Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as having served the
Dalai Lama's Gelugpa Lineage.
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESSMAN
Having established four business firms engaged in international commerce,
Mr. Landau's practical business experience well-serves his legal and dispute
resolution clients.
REAL ESTATE LAW AND BROKERAGE
Former New York State licensed Real Estate Broker and present Arizona
Real Estate Licensee (18 years); Graduate of the Realtor Institute (G.R.I.)
and Member of the National, Arizona and Scottsdale Associations of Realtors.
Jerome as served as legal counsel to numerous real estate brokers and
agents, including the largest brokerage in Arizona, U.S. and international
real estate investment groups. He has participated in the sale, purchase
and/or leasing of office, commercial and industrial properties, vacant
land, residential properties, a resort and hotel, ranches and a federal
land trade. Jerome also arbitrates, mediates and litigates issues in these
areas.
FEDERAL AND STATE COURT LITIGATION EXPERIENCE
Mr. Landau has tried commercial, business, personal injury, family and
other issues in three different U.S. District Courts and the highest trial
courts in the states of Arizona and New York . Six months of intensive
training through the U.S. Treasury Department, and four years as a Special
Agent (Financial Investigator) of the Department, with assignments to
the U.S. Department of Justice and Secret Service have also honed his
multi-faceted skills; as did his Co-Directing a nationwide law enforcement
project that was at the time deemed the largest in its field in the country.
PUBLICATIONS & SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
Mr. Landau is a contributing author to articles for the international
magazine ACResolutions; and was the only attorney requested to contribute
to McGraw-Hill landmark compendium "The Investigative Handbook".
He formerly authored a monthly legal column in New York City.
Following his passion for sharing with others the tools
to balanced living that he has learned over a lifetime of person research,
Jerome is a trainer and presenter of numerous ADR workshops for professional
arbitrators, mediators and other professionals. He has twice been invited
to the United Nations to present interactive workshops featuring dispute
resolution skills and has made presentations to European lawyers regarding
American business law, conflict of law, and other topics. Philips International
has retained Jerome to present an interactive workshop for its North American
educators.
Other speaking engagements include his being the Keynote
Speaker at the ADRA 2001 Annual Conference and a MADRA public speaker
about arbitration and mediation. Jerome has also written and presented
workshops on such topics as Mediation, Aikido Principles and Conflict
Resolution, Defensive Living® and stress reduction techniques.
Jerome relocated from New York to Arizona in 1986 to
marry his wife Linda, an outstanding educator. He is an ardent hiker,
the Grand Canyon being his favorite trek and horseman. He also teaches,
and continues to study, the philosophy of Aikido, a Martial Art in which
he holds a Third Degree (Sandan) Black Belt.
